2014 CHINESE NEW YEAR CALLIGRAPHY CHARITY SALE

Kuala Lumpur, 9 April 2014 – The Lion-Parkson Foundation (LPF) and Parkson Corporation Sdn Bhd had assisted six independent schools in Klang Valley to organize 2014 Chinese New Year Calligraphy Charity Sale at 11 Parkson stores which had successfully raised RM192,163.65 to assist needy students in the schools. A mock-cheque for this amount was presented by Foundation Chairman, Puan Sri Chelsia Cheng to the students from the six independent schools namely Kuen Cheng High School, Confucian Private Secondary School, Tsun Jin High School, Chong Hwa Independent High School (KL), Pin Hwa High School and Chung Hua Independent High School (Klang).

 

The students from the six schools had staged Calligraphy demonstrations and Chinese orchestra performances at 11 participating Parkson outlets in the Klang Valley namely Pavilion KL, Suria KLCC, KL Festival City Mall, OUG Shopping Centre, Selayang Mall, Subang Parade, Sunway Pyramid, 1 Utama Shopping Centre, Klang Parade, Sungei Wang and Setia City Mall over 3 weekends in January 2014. The Calligraphy pieces by the students were sold for a total of RM 192,163.65.

 

The expenses for the Calligraphy sale and performances were sponsored by Lion-Parkson Foundation and Parkson Corporation while the special paper for writing the Calligraphy pieces were provided by Xian’s Calligraphy Centre founded by Puan Sri Chelsia Cheng.

 

Lion-Parkson Foundation was launched in 1990 by The Lion Group to administer and disburse funds for various needs such as education, charity and scientific research. It is governed by a Board of Trustees comprising Puan Sri Chelsia Cheng (Chairman), Mr CS Tang, Dr Yulduz Emiloglu, and Dr Chua Siew Kiat. All donations to the Foundation are tax-exempt.
