2015 CHINESE NEW YEAR CALLIGRAPHY CHARITY SALE

Kuala Lumpur, 1 April 2015 – For the sixth consecutive year, Lion-Parkson Foundation (LPF) and Parkson Corporation Sdn Bhd assisted six independent schools in the Klang Valley, namely Kuen Cheng High School, Confucian Private Secondary School, Tsun Jin High School, Chong Hwa Independent High School (KL), Kwang Hua Private High School and Chung Hua Independent High School (Klang) to organize Chinese New Year (CNY) Calligraphy Charity Sale in aid of needy students in these schools.

 

The 2015 CNY Calligraphy Charity Sale was held at 11 participating Parkson stores namely Pavilion KL, Suria KLCC, KL Festival City Mall, OUG Shopping Centre, IOI City Mall Putrajaya, NU Sentral, Sunway Pyramid, 1 Utama Shopping Centre, Klang Parade, Sungei Wang and Setia City Mall. The students from the 6 schools had staged Calligraphy demonstrations and Chinese orchestra performances at these Parkson stores over 3 weekends prior to the Lunar New Year celebration in February 2015, and successfully raised RM196,483.25.

 

At today’s presentation ceremony, LPF Chairman, Puan Sri Chelsia Cheng presented cheques for the total amount of RM 256,483.25 to the 6 schools. This amount is inclusive of LPF’s contribution of RM60,000 to the 6 schools for their support and participation in Lion Parkson Run in September 2014 which was held to raise funds for the Home for Handicapped & Mentally Disabled Children in Banting.

 

The expenses for the Calligraphy sale and performances were sponsored by Lion-Parkson Foundation and Parkson Corporation while the special paper for writing the Calligraphy pieces were provided by Xian’s Calligraphy Centre founded by Puan Sri Chelsia Cheng.

 

Lion-Parkson Foundation was launched in 1990 by Lion Group to administer and disburse funds for various needs such as education, charity and scientific research. It is governed by a Board of Trustees comprising Puan Sri Chelsia Cheng, Mr CS Tang, Dr Yulduz Emiloglu, and Dr Chua Siew Kiat. All donations to the Foundation are tax-exempt.
