Lion Group Donates To China & Myanmar Disaster Victims

Kuala Lumpur, 23 May 2008 – The Lion Group has donated Rmb 3.5 million (approximately RM1.58 million) to help the people affected by the earthquake in Sichuan, China; and another US$10,000 (approximately RM32,000) to the people in Myanmar affected by the recent cyclone.

In view of the urgency, the Group’s contribution for the earthquake victims in China is being coordinated by its Parkson office in Beijing which is channelling the aid through the Parkson stores in Sichuan and other affected areas. These Parkson stores will liaise with the Red Crescent Society in China to distribute the monetary aid to the affected people.

The US$10,000 donation for Myanmar was handed over by Group Executive Director, Datuk Albert Cheng (photo above, right) to His Excellency Tin Latt, Ambassador from Myanmar in Kuala Lumpur.
