I am an Electrical Engineer currently attached with Rod Mill 1, the wire rod manufacturing plant at Amsteel Klang. My main responsibility is to manage the maintenance activities and manpower planning for preventive maintenance and plant production. I am also required to troubleshoot, analyse the root cause, rectify any problem, and apply prevention plans. Even though I am a fresh graduate, I have been given many opportunities to take part in the plant upgrading projects. Working in Amsteel is like being in a big family. We celebrate great achievements together, help each other and work together during challenging times. The company is a great training ground as there are many new things to learn and many opportunities to perform. I am also involved in major projects in the company, enabling me to brush up on my skills and meet new people from different divisions and different backgrounds. The Lion Group is a well-established organisation and has been well known throughout generations. My family is very proud that I am a part of this organisation. As a technical person, I would have the opportunity to contribute my skills and expertise to the steel companies in the Group as there are ample opportunities to move from one division to another within the Group. In spite of my busy schedule, I still ensure that I lead a well-balanced life outside my job by exercising at the gym, swimming, travelling around the country or just hanging out with my friends.
